How to play

You get a country name and a blank canvas — no reference image. Draw the flag from memory, then hit Reveal & Score.

How the score works

An uneven tricolour still scores in the nineties. The right colours in the wrong order does not.

Stuck? Take a hint

Three structure hints per flag. Each one adds dashed guides — where the divisions fall, where an emblem sits, how the proportions work — and never a colour or a name. They do not change your score, but the result and the share card note how many you took.

How to draw the flag of Jamaica

The flag of Jamaica is a diagonal cross running corner to corner in gold, green and black. It flies at a ratio of 1:2.

The flag of Jamaica — ratio 1:2

Step by step

  1. Start with the right shape. Jamaica flies at 1:2 — for every 2 units of width the flag is 1 tall. Sketch that rectangle first; a flag drawn too square is the fastest way to lose layout points.
  2. Block in the background. Fill the whole flag with gold first, then build the rest on top of it. Working from the largest area to the smallest keeps the proportions honest.
  3. Add the green and black. A diagonal cross running corner to corner. Place these shapes by eye against the edges of the flag, not against each other.

What the flag means

The gold saltire divides green fields at top and bottom from black triangles at hoist and fly.

Common mistakes

  • Putting the black at the top and bottom. Black is at the sides.
  • Watch out for Burundi — it is close enough to Jamaica that people draw the wrong one from memory.

A trick for remembering it

Green on top and bottom, black at the ends, gold X across the whole thing.
