PlayVexle

How to play

You get a country name and a blank canvas — no reference image. Draw the flag from memory, then hit Reveal & Score.

How the score works

An uneven tricolour still scores in the nineties. The right colours in the wrong order does not.

Stuck? Take a hint

Three structure hints per flag. Each one adds dashed guides — where the divisions fall, where an emblem sits, how the proportions work — and never a colour or a name. They do not change your score, but the result and the share card note how many you took.

How to draw the flag of Zimbabwe

The flag of Zimbabwe is a one-of-a-kind layout in green, yellow, red, black and white, with Zimbabwe Bird. It flies at a ratio of 1:2.

The flag of Zimbabwe — ratio 1:2

Step by step

  1. Start with the right shape. Zimbabwe flies at 1:2 — for every 2 units of width the flag is 1 tall. Sketch that rectangle first; a flag drawn too square is the fastest way to lose layout points.
  2. Block in the background. Fill the whole flag with green first, then build the rest on top of it. Working from the largest area to the smallest keeps the proportions honest.
  3. Add the yellow, red, black and white. A one-of-a-kind layout. Place these shapes by eye against the edges of the flag, not against each other.
  4. Finish with the Zimbabwe Bird and red star. Detail is the last ten percent of the score, so leave it until the colour blocks are down. Size and position count for more than drawing every line of it.

Common mistakes

    A trick for remembering it

Anchor on the biggest shape: a one-of-a-kind layout in green, yellow, red, black and white. Everything else on the flag hangs off that.
