How to play

You get a country name and a blank canvas — no reference image. Draw the flag from memory, then hit Reveal & Score.

How the score works

An uneven tricolour still scores in the nineties. The right colours in the wrong order does not.

Stuck? Take a hint

Three structure hints per flag. Each one adds dashed guides — where the divisions fall, where an emblem sits, how the proportions work — and never a colour or a name. They do not change your score, but the result and the share card note how many you took.

How to draw the flag of Morocco

The flag of Morocco is one or more stars on a plain field in red and green. It flies at a ratio of 2:3.

The flag of Morocco — ratio 2:3

Step by step

  1. Start with the right shape. Morocco flies at 2:3 — for every 3 units of width the flag is 2 tall. Sketch that rectangle first; a flag drawn too square is the fastest way to lose layout points.
  2. Block in the background. Fill the whole flag with red first, then build the rest on top of it. Working from the largest area to the smallest keeps the proportions honest.
  3. Add the green. One or more stars on a plain field. Place these shapes by eye against the edges of the flag, not against each other.
  4. Finish with the green pentagram. Detail is the last ten percent of the score, so leave it until the colour blocks are down. Size and position count for more than drawing every line of it.

What the flag means

The interlaced green pentagram — the seal of Solomon — was added in 1915 to the historic red field of the Alaouite dynasty.

Common mistakes

  • Drawing a solid star. Morocco’s star is an interlaced green pentagram — five lines, hollow in the middle.
  • Watch out for Vietnam — it is close enough to Morocco that people draw the wrong one from memory.

A trick for remembering it

Red field, hollow green star drawn in one stroke.
