How to play

You get a country name and a blank canvas — no reference image. Draw the flag from memory, then hit Reveal & Score.

How the score works

An uneven tricolour still scores in the nineties. The right colours in the wrong order does not.

Stuck? Take a hint

Three structure hints per flag. Each one adds dashed guides — where the divisions fall, where an emblem sits, how the proportions work — and never a colour or a name. They do not change your score, but the result and the share card note how many you took.

How to draw the flag of Hungary

The flag of Hungary is three equal horizontal bands — red, white and green from top to bottom. It flies at a ratio of 1:2.

The flag of Hungary — ratio 1:2

Step by step

  1. Start with the right shape. Hungary flies at 1:2 — for every 2 units of width the flag is 1 tall. Sketch that rectangle first; a flag drawn too square is the fastest way to lose layout points.
  2. Divide the height into three. Mark two guide lines before you fill anything in. Even bands matter more than neat edges — the scorer cares where the colour blocks sit.
  3. Band 1: red. Fill the first band from the top with red. Use the fill tool rather than shading — flat blocks score better than sketchy strokes.
  4. Band 2: white. Fill the second band from the top with white. Use the fill tool rather than shading — flat blocks score better than sketchy strokes.
  5. Band 3: green. Fill the third band from the top with green. Use the fill tool rather than shading — flat blocks score better than sketchy strokes.

The colour codes below are the ones to reach for if you are recreating the flag digitally.

Red #CE2939 rgb(206, 41, 57)
White #FFFFFF rgb(255, 255, 255)
Green #477050 rgb(71, 112, 80)

Common mistakes

  • Watch out for Italy, Bulgaria and Iran — they are close enough to Hungary that people draw the wrong one from memory.
  • Colour order is where most people slip. Fix which colour touches the top — that one anchor keeps the rest in place.

A trick for remembering it

Lock in the order — red, white then green — from the top down. Say it out loud once and you will still have it tomorrow.
